CHART History

res_chart02In response to a call for proposals for the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) Program at UPEI in 2000, a core group of researchers from Psychology, Education, Family and Nutritional Sciences and Nursing generated the Children's Health and Applied Research Team. The importance of children's health was recognized and incorporated into the strategic research vision for UPEI's CRC Program.

CHART Mandate

The mandate for this research group is to conduct scholarly research that will improve the lives of children on PEI and impact on other parts of the country. This mandate was founded of an overarching principle to empower, enrich, and strengthen the development of children, their families, and the Island community in general. Specific activities of CHART include:

  • developing and mentoring collaborative research projects on the social, cognitive, and physical development of infants and children;
